When choosing Spider Feet as a solution to your standing sign needs, you are
making a great choice. We often get questions on how wide and/or how tall you
can go when using Spider Feet. This is difficult for us to respond to because
it is very dependent upon the substrate and the location these will be placed.
The taller you go, the wider your Spider Feet need to be. If you are going
larger than 4 feet tall, you need to use Jumbo Spider Feet. Extra tall may
require more than one Spider Feet per side of your substrate (i.e. another one
or 2 in the middle for stability).
Another thing you must consider is the location. If you are going near a
high-traffic area (near a doorway or escalator, next to a trade show isle,
etc.) or under an air conditioning vent or fan, you may find that you need the
Jumbo Spider Feet and/or more of them than normal.
Most people find that the location matters more than the size of the Spider
Feet or the quantity of Spider feet you need. Often times, the location will
matter more than the height of the sign. We do not recommend more than 8’ or
96” in height, especially if using a substrate heavier than foamboard.
Just know that you can use Spider feet to stand your sign up but we do
recommend you test your height and location before mass producing your signage
needs using Spider Feet.
If you are planning to use ¼” substrates with a ½” Spider feet, most people
cut a 2” X2” wedge out of the same ¼” substrate to act as a wedge to keep a
tight fit within the ½” Spider feet base opening. This works well and you can
also add a screw or nut and bolt into the already drilled hole of the Spider
Feet base to keep it more fit and together.
